Photographs of famous figures such as Dorothy Hamill, Sylvester Stallone, and Mrs. Carter are featured along with lesser-known subjects such as Alphanso Panell, the latter a study for Warhols 1975 series Ladies and Gentlemen.

APG Show highlighting AIDS pandemic

Bloodline: AIDS and Family provides an intimate look at the harsh reality of the AIDS pandemic in
sub-Saharan Africa, which has already claimed over thirty million lives. Looking beyond the statistics and into the individual stories of the unfolding catastrophe, award-winning photojournalist Kristen Ashburn documented the impact of the disease from 2001 onward, spending months with families to chronicle their struggle with HIV/AIDS.  This is their story, through images.

The African social landscape, forever altered by the AIDS pandemic, is memorialized in her powerful collection of imagery.

Currency Show @ WonderRoot

Contact currency@wonderroot.org to be a part of this show examining the concept of “currency” as a whole.

aaaaarttt!

aaaaarttt!

With these shady economic times, it’s a good time to get out some ideas of what currency means to you as an artist.  Think of “current” times, poverty, wealth, etc.  Anything goes as long as it comes out of your thoughts about currency, and not necessarily money.  Currency, I think, is so much more.  Submission deadline is December 29 and the show will be at WonderRoot and will be opening on January 3, 2009.
